AP: Freed Cubans face uncertain future in a Spain suffering from debt crisis
posted on Wednesday, July 14, 2010MADRID (AP) - As Spain prepares to receive more political prisoners from Cuba, the seven who have already arrived with their families are welcoming their newfound freedom but face an uncertain future in a country heavily burdened with debt.
A Spanish foreign ministry spokesman says three more free Cubans will arrive on Wednesday.
The freed Cubans said in interviews that Spain is a gift compared with the prisons where they were held in Cuba.
They left Cuba with just a few suitcases, and at least one had no money and no change of clothes.
A total of 20 have agreed to move to Spain.
